The Soviet Gatherer Truck is yet another implementation of the basic truck favoured by Soviet commanders for a variety of purposes. This is basically the Troop Truck, but half of the space has been converted into an ore hold. The remaining space is taken by 5 workers that can be unloaded near an ore field to gather ore, which is then stored in the truck.
Though the truck has no means of self-defense, the workers are armed with light firearms that can be more or less useful in infantry skirmishes, but should definitely be kept out of engagements with enemy armor. However, at 1000$, the Ore Truck comes at little more than half the price of its Allied and Nazi contemporaries, making it an economical choice, even when lost to possible enemy action. To reflect this, when playing against a Soviet AI player, the AI does not send forces to protect the Ore Truck when it comes under attack...
